Assignment 7 - Street Fashion @Legare’s Cafe’

I was inspired by the fashion photography. So I hang out sometimes at Legare’s Cafe’ and observed the street styles around. Finally, I chose some special and attractive styles to combine and create 6 paper clothes above. Each has two colors with a top and a bottom and some accessories. I made them with many layers on purpose in order to pop-up on the paper. My difficulty is making them with many layers, but keeping them on only one pieces. I’m happy with my project.

Assignment 6 - Site Specific Class Show

Legare’s Cafe’

There are a lot of art performances at the cafe’ and around its neighbor. Legare’s Cafe’ is pretty small but feels warm. I’m interesting in a bunch of sticky notes there, the neighbor chubby cat, customers’ street fashion, leafless trees and fungus on the pavement, graffiti along the wall, or the board-skating yard . Maybe I pick one of them or combine them in my project.

Assignment 5 - Everyday Activity (part2)

Assignment 5 - Everyday Activity (part1)

“Sticky Note”

Everyday i always make notes and hang up in front of my desk and laptop such as: midterm, due days, call dad&mom, birthdays or “todo list”. Sometimes i would like to leave my roommates notes and tape them on the refrigerator and the bathroom’s mirror such as: get home late @10pm, cooking fish for dinner, out of cereal, wake me up @8am … So my roommies get to used to putting notes like me.

So that, i decided to use my habit in school for this daily life project. It is kinda fun that i went to ask my friends and classmates for writing a note for me, saying anything or remind me of doing something.

Yay! I got a lot of sticky notes from friends now. Thank you guys for these cute memo :)

Assignment 4 - Bedroom Gallery

Elise Tong is one of five closed friends who come to U.S together with me. She likes to decorate her room by collecting many cute things. Here is 5 things that I discovered in her room:

1 - Wheel of Memories

US Airport, Spring 2010

Steel, Black, 2 wheels and 15 Spiral holdings

She bought it because it looks like the shape of flower and can turn around like a wheel. It is hang up in front of her study desk.

She keeps all memorial photos with her family, boyfriend and friends and some greeting cards with many wishes there.

2 - Lion vs. King Kong

Canyon Beach, Fall 2009

Stuffed animals, Yellow Brown and Dark Brown

They symbolize for her and her ex-boyfriend. She was born in the year of Tiger (as power as Lion), and he was born in the year of Monkey. She always joked that he looks like King Kong, and he said she is stubborn like Lion.

3 - Ocean Drawer

Her best friend gave it for her as the birthday present. She put many small stuffs and accessories inside such as: necklaces, earrings, watches, and etc …

She does like flowers so that her room’s decoration has many flower patterns. Besides that, it’s a twin bed with a blanket for the queen bed because she cannot stand the cold weather well.

Assignment 3 - Walkshop Art

  • Smiley Face
  • Bike

After going to St. Michael church on Sunday with my roommate, we found the tree with 2 big funny eyes in the parking lot near there. The simple smiley faces came to my mind, so I picked up some papers and twist them to make a mouth with different emotions. Along the way home, I also saw some clumps of elephant grass in front of US bank that look so funny. Actually, I do like the round shape, so I made a bike with some dried braches lastly. But my friend said it looks like glasses though … haha.
